areas of forecasting, inventory management, stochastic modeling, production
control, design engineering, productivity improvement, and cost accounting.
Examples of his work include:
- Developing a software program to automate the processes of designing, costing, routing, and pricing for the wire and cable industry;
- Spearheading a productivity enhancement and inventory management effort in a leading nutritional supplements manufacturer which resulted in record sales and production;

- Leading numerous projects with a major paper distributor to enhance its capability to deliver while right sizing inventory.
Jim developed one of the earliest and most efficient algorithms to determine the optimal number of kanbans for a production system. He has also taught probability and statistics in the Leaders for Manufacturing program at MIT’s Sloan School of Management.
Jim enjoys the outdoors and is an avid hiker.
